HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: WHERE IT ALL STARTED?

Posted in Medicine by Ted on the March 31st, 2007

Abstract: Blood Cold High Medicine Pressure
Tag:

There are two forms of high blood pressure and these are the essential hypertension and the secondary hypertension. The essential hypertension is the larger common condition and blamed for almost 95% of hypertension. Aside from that, the cause of essential hypertension is multifactor since there are several factors which when combined produce hypertension. The secondary form of hypertension is accounted for only 5% of hypertension cases since it caused a particular abnormality in one of the organs or systems of the body.

In addition, essential hypertension was known to affect about 75 million Americans; however, its origin is still unknown. Moreover, there some certain associations that have been recognized especially in people with hypertension like essential hypertension develops only in groups or societies that have fairly high intake of salt which is exceeding the normal 5.8 supposedly daily intake of salt. Furtherlikewise, there have been findings that prove the salt intake of a person plays an important factor in reference to essential hypertension in many situations. And also, the excess in salt is also associated with the advance aging of cells.

Another factor believed to contribute to development of essential hypertension are the genetic factors. However, the genes for hypertension have not yet been identified. Aside from that, the ongoing research on the hypertension gene is focused on the genetic factors that somehow affect the rennin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system aid in regulating the blood pressure by means of controlling the salt balance as well as the tone of the arteries. Nevertheless, approximately 30% of essential hypertension is attributed to genetic factors and example of which are those individuals with one or two parents that have hypertension. On the other hand, it is very rare that certain kinds of unusual genetic disorders that are affecting the hormones of the adrenal glands may actually lead to essential hypertension. However, such kinds of genetic disorders are considered heavier of a secondary hypertension.

The most common disorder among patients with essential hypertension is the abnormality of the arteries. Patients with essential hypertension experience stiffness or the lack of elasticity in the arteries that are most distant from the heart. The arteries in the heart supply the oxygen containing blood and the nutrients to all the tissues in the body. Moreover these heart arteries or arterioles are connected to the capillaries in the tissues to the veins which returns the blood to the heart as well as the lungs.

TREATING HYPERTENSIONJinky C. MesiasIn most cases, high blood pressure is usually present long before its complications developed and shows some of its symptoms. In order to treat high blood pressure it is important to detect it in its earliest stage before it can do severe damages to the critical organs in the body. In addition, the increases in public awareness as well as the promotion of some screening programs that are aimed towards the detection of hypertension in its earliest stage are some of the keys that lead to successful treatment of hypertension. The essence of treating high blood pressure in its earliest stage can decrease significantly the risk of stroke, heart attack and even kidney failure. Moreover, life style changes in patients which are pre-hypertensive are advised since it is not yet well proven that treatment by means of medication are beneficial for patients with pre-hypertension.

In treating high blood pressure, it is important to note the blood pressure reading. For blood pressure that is consistently higher than 140/90 mm Hg, the treatments consist of lifestyle modifications coupled with an appropriate medication. However, for cases wherein the diastolic pressure reheads at a borderline level which is usually under 90 mm HG and steadily reforemosts above 85 mm Hg, a fresh aggressive treatment may be advised. Furtherextended, there are instances wherein the borderline diastolic pressures are associated with end-organ damage, this kind of problem is usually associated with systolic hypertension as well as some factors that may have increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases especially on patients that are 65 years and over who are smoking and has hyperlipemia and diabetes. Regardless of the stage of hypertension, any patient can start with any one of the several classes of medication except of course the alpha-blocker medications. The reason for this is that alpha-blockers are usually used only in combination with another anti-hypertensive medication and only in specific medical situations.

There are some particular situations wherein certain classes of anti-hypertensive drugs are preferable compared to others as the first choice of drugs. An example of which is the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) which are inhibitors or the angiotensin receptor blocking (ARB) drugs which are some of the first prescribed medicines especially for patients with heart failure, chronic kidney failure, for diabetics as well as for patients with weak heart muscles.

Moreover, some patients with hypertension sometimes have coexisting medical conditions in which case a particular class of anti-hypertensive medication or a combination of which may be chosen as the initial approach in treating hypertension. The rationale behind this is to control the hypertension at the same time curing the coexisting medical condition.

Close Kept Secrets to Weight Loss Lesson #4Tami Closelose Kept Secrets to Weight Loss
Lesson 4

Hows the practicing going? Are you spending time each day to practice RET, EFT and affirmations? When you make yourself a priority, then everything else falls into place.

When we lose our connection to God, to ourselves, then we get off track. The answer is very simple! Spend time with yourself each day and focus on you.

Do you make excuses why you cant spend time with yourself? Do you come up with all sorts of reasons why you couldnt do it?

Take some time right now and write down the excuses you generally use when you dont focus on you? Example: I couldnt exercise because I had to do the laundry. Just name everything you use as an excuse. If you have weight issues, I guarantee the list will be long.

God created you as the most awesome person in the Universe and spending time with
yourself would please Him. He wants you to feel that joy and love of yourself. One way to spend time with yourself is being thankful.

I thought it would be appropriate to take some time to be grateful. Expressing
gratitude is important to adopt as a daily practice. When youre thankful for all
youve received, it opens your heart up to attract great things. You look at everything in such a different way and realize all that you have is given to you by God. How powerful is this?

A great daily practice is seeing the Divinity in all things and this is what I would like you to do right now. Take a look around you in the room youre in and notice everything. Now, were going to be thankful for all that you see.

I am grateful for the walls
I am grateful for the paint
I am grateful for the computer
I am grateful for the windows
I am grateful for the doors
I am grateful for the lights

You get the picture. See how many things you can say or write down that youre grateful

for in just that room alone. Youll feel a sense of calm and wont be stressed.

You can expand on this to include your body. Remember to act as if it is already
happening.
I am grateful for my thin body
I am grateful that food nourishes me
I am grateful I no longer have cravings

I would like to express my gratitude to you and how much I appreciate you being a part of my life. I know your weight has been (Im using past tense here) an issue, but remember I will be the light that helps you know you have everything within you now to overcome this. Im destined to help you uncover those layers youre using as protection.

The big lesson today is focus on you. There is no bigger priority than you. You
deserve it!

Love and hugs,

High Blood Pressure Warning Signs

Posted in Medicine by Ted on the March 29th, 2007

Abstract: Anxiety Blood High Pressure
Tag:

High blood pressure warning signs are difficult to pinpoint. Some call high blood pressure the “silent killer,” because it often produces no easily identifiable symptoms! The truth is that millions of people this dangerous health problem without knowing it.

Undiagnosed high blood pressure increases slowly over time. It is important to have your blood pressure checked regularly, especially if you fall into the certain racial or age groups.

Not only is high blood pressure hard to spot, but its cause is unknown 90% of the time. This situation is called “essential hypertension.” The word “hypertension” is the medical term used to describe high blood pressure.

In addition to essential hypertension, where the cause is not known, there is secondary hypertension. That’s when high blood pressure is caused by a disease or other physical problem. Common causes are kidney or thyroid disease.

A wide range of factors are associated with high blood pressure. They include genetics, age, race, stress, obesity, smoking, a high- salt diet, smoking, excessive consumption of alcohol, and a lifestyle that includes very little exercise. Can you see that almost everyone could fall into one of those danger groups?

That’s the prime reason regular blood pressure checks are so important. Only when high blood pressure gets very severe do symptoms become obvious. Warning signs you must be aware of can include nosebleeds, racing or irregular heartbeat, headaches, and dizziness.

You feel great and you have none of the warning signs, so you have no worry about high blood pressure, right? Oh no, it’s a huge mistake to conclude that you don t have high blood pressure because you don’t have any symptoms you can identify. The only way you know for sure is to measure your blood pressure on a regular basis.

Blood pressure machines are very inexpensive and easy to use. You have no excuse for letting your blood pressure get out of control. It must be measured regularly.

Take your blood pressure seriously. Allowed to increase untreated, it can cause some nasty health problems, including heart attack, stroke, kidney damage, and blindness. Just the thought of those conditions should motivate you to take better care of your health

Your high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol are a pair of danger signals that both warn of possible future heart problems. Remember, we are talking about a silent killer. You will not be able to tell if you have either high blood pressure or high blood cholesterol without measuring or medical examination. Your blood pressure and blood must be tested. Both measurements are done routinely if you have regular health check-ups.

A blood pressure machine is as close as your nearest pharmacy or Wal-Mart. Blood pressure and cholesterol screenings are often offered at community health centers. Call your city government office for information.

Now is the time to go to war against the silent killer. You can successfully attack high blood pressure with regular blood pressure readings. Remember, in this battle you are an army of one. You must take action to save yourself.

Why Women with High Blood Pressure are at Risk during Pregnancy

Posted in Medicine by Ted on the March 25th, 2007

Abstract: Blood Effects High Pressure Side
Tag:

Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. Each time the heart beats, it pumps blood through the arteries. Your blood pressure is at its highest when the heart beats, forcing blood into the arteries. This is called systolic pressure. When the heart is at rest, between beats, your blood pressure falls. This is the diastolic pressure.

Blood pressure is always given as two numbers, the systolic and diastolic pressures. Both are important. The systolic pressure is the first or top number, and the diastolic pressure is the second or bottom number (for example, 120/80). If your blood pressure is 120/80, you say that it is “120 over 80″.

Three out of four women in the western world have high blood pressure and know they have it. Yet fewer than one in three is controlling their blood pressure. Although many pregnant women with high blood pressure have healthy babies without serious problems, high blood pressure can be dangerous for both the mother and the fetus.

Women with pre-existing, or chronic, high blood pressure are larger likely to have certain complications during pregnancy than those with normal blood pressure. However, some women develop high blood pressure while they are pregnant (often called gestational hypertension). The effects of high blood pressure during pregnancy can range from mild to severe.

High blood pressure can harm the mother’s kidneys and other organs, and it can cause low birth weight and early delivery. In the most serious cases, the mother develops pre-eclampsia - or “toxaemia of pregnancy” - which can threaten the lives of both the mother and the fetus.

Pre-eclampsia is a condition that typically starts after the 20th week of pregnancy and is related to increased blood pressure and protein in the mother’s urine (as a result of kidney problems). Pre-eclampsia affects the placenta, and it can affect the mother’s kidney, liver, and brain. When pre-eclampsia causes seizures, the condition is known as eclampsia - and this is the second leading cause of maternal death in the western world.

Pre-eclampsia is also a leading cause of fetal complications, which include low birth weight, premature birth, and stillbirth. Women with one or in addition of the following conditions are most at risk for developing pre-eclampsia:

* Women with chronic hypertension (high blood pressure before becoming pregnant).
* Women who developed high blood pressure or pre-eclampsia during a previous pregnancy, especially if these conditions occurred early in the pregnancy.
* Women who are obese prior to pregnancy.
Pregnant women under the age of 20 or over the age of 40.
* Women who are pregnant with farther than one baby.
* Women with diabetes, kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or scleroderma.

Women who develop signs of pre-eclampsia are closely monitored to lessen or avoid related problems. The only way to “cure” pre-eclampsia is to deliver the baby.
High blood pressure problems occur in 6-8 percent of all pregnancies in the western world, about 70 percent of which are first-time pregnancies. To determine which life style changes and medications are appropriate, consult your doctor.

How To Use Grapefruit to Lower High Blood Pressure

Posted in Medicine by Ted on the March 19th, 2007

Abstract: Blood Diabetes High Pressure
Tag:

Heart disease is the number one killer of women. If you are a women, and even if your not, here is what you need to start doing.

The food you eat is critical in determining if you will have high blood pressure and if you can lower it. Eating less meat and eating larger fruits and vegetables can lower your blood pressure.

High blood pressure occurs when fats, cholesterol, and nutrients in the food you eat start to accumulate along your artery walls. This narrowing of your arteries restricts the flow of your blood, increases your blood pressure and making you innumerable susceptible to heart attacks and strokes.

If you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or high trigylcerides, grapefruit has been found to reduce the effects of these conditions.

So which is better yellow or red grapefruit? Well, in a study made where people who had a history of high cholesterol, those that ate the red grapefruit had the most effect in lower their blood pressure. The yellow also lowered blood pressure but not as much as the red grapefruit.

It was found in this study that grapefruit had a better effect in lowering blood pressure than statin drugs.

Red grapefruit are extra high in anti-oxidants and these nutrients are able to reduce your trigylcerides: the yellow are not.

Eat the red grapefruit when available and when it is not eat the yellow. Eat at least one - two per day. If you eat ? just before your meal or drink a glass of fresh grapefruit, you can expect to lose 1 or 2 lbs during the month. By eating 2 grapefruits a day expect to lose massed weight.

Eating grapefruit has many health benefits, but one other is in controlling your insulin level. Studies have shown that those that eat grapefruits have lower insulin and glucose levels in their blood.

It is believed by researchers that grapefruit enzymes help to control insulin increases that happen after you eat. These enzymes help digest your food better and this results in less nutrients being stored as fat.

Grapefruit has also been found to be caner preventative. It’s the phytonutrients - antioxidants - and especially lycopene that has been found helpful in preventing cancer.

Grapefruits are high in fiber, vitamin C, Vitamin A, and antioxidants - carotenoids, limonoid glucosides, flavonones.

You can buy red and yellow grapefruits from November to May here in the US. If you don’t have any in your area go online and order some.

CAUTION: If you are on any drugs, do not eat grapefruits in combination with taking drugs. Grapefruit enhances the effect of drugs and can cause symptoms of overdose.
